		<description>REENVISION
Rethinking the Still Life
CCNY, TBA

Since the birth of photography in 1839, the still life has been an integral part of the development of the field. During the earliest years the still life and landscape defined our visual history; with the photographic process arcane and slow, the inanimate and stationary subject matter prevailed. Since then, countless advancements to the process have been made. Even the true nature of subjectivity within image making has shifted. In an age where time and memory have an ever evolving relationship to society, what specifically has changed in the nature of how we view beauty, what we believe to be most relevant and recordable?

REENVISION intends to examine the nature of modern still lifes, incorporating a small collection of artists who have utilized history, technology, and the juxtaposition of other innovative techniques to inform their photography today in an attempt to create a new understanding of the boundaries of one of the oldest categorizations of photography.

Artists: Ela Zubrowska, Sophie Kahn, Ina Jang, Kate Stone, Tara Sellios

Shades of Gray
A Cross Section of Modern Sexual Identity
Daniel Cooney Fine Art, April 2011
iGavel.com Online Auction

Modern sexuality is a broad categorization with much more complexity then the black and white, standard narrative of heterosexual monogamy. The theme intends to account for all the different types of sexual identities and shed light onto their nuances. Some examples of this are, but not limited to: gay marriage, sexual fluidity, women's empowerment through porn, non-monogamy, and so on.
